Since getting my Macbook pro, almost all files that are downloaded as .rar extensions show up as .exe extension. Anyone have any idea why, is there a virus out there or someone just screwing with people downloading from the usenet services? Know it sounds crazy but its a thought.
 
It is not a virus* and maybe those archives are self extracting archives meant primarily for Windows users. The Unarchiver however is fully capable of extracting .exe files if they are just self-extracting archives.
