Alright so with the rumors of Apple updating the macbook pro before summer has sparked lots of rumors.

Rate the wish list of 1(the lowest)- 5(highest) of it being include in the next update.

    1. 1680x1050 resolution in the 15"
    2. long lasting non removable battery in the 15"
    3. Nvidia GT 130M. This is the generation after the 9600M GT (256mb in entry level 512mb in higher level mbp)
    4.SLIGHT cpu clock speed increases 2.4>2.66, 2.66> 2.8? or 2.93, BTO 2.93> 3.06
    5. 8 GB of ram officially supported for 15"
    6. Bluetooth 3.0
    7. 320 GB hdd> 500GB?
    8. Lower ssd prices?

It seems reasonable for Apple to go ahead and include these features before Nehalem is introduced. That way the focus can be just on Nehalem when it is introduced in early 2010.

    1. 1680x1050 resolution in the 15" 1. I wouldn't count on it - at least not in a standard config.
    2. long lasting non removable battery in the 15" 3. They did it with the 17", it could happen.
    3. Nvidia GT 130M. This is the generation after the 9600M GT (256mb in entry level 512mb in higher level mbp) 2 as a standard config, 3 as an upgrade.
4.SLIGHT cpu clock speed increases 2.4>2.66, 2.66> 2.8? or 2.93, BTO 2.93> 3.06 You might see a 2.66, above that there could be issues with power consumption. The 3.06 has been available in an iMac for some time, but not in a MBP - power might have something to do with that.
    5. 8 GB of ram officially supported for 15" 4
    6. Bluetooth 3.0 1
    7. 320 GB hdd> 500GB? 4 as a BTO
    8. Lower ssd prices? This is out of Apple's hands - I can't hazard a guess.

I see this being adopted across the entire line of portables for sure.
For one reason they hyped it up so much and won't waste the R and D involved in the new battery system.
Second reason for this, the Macbook Pro was arguably the least suited for a non removable battery. If it's in that it'll be in everything.

the new UMBP17 has 1900x1200 as standard, an improvement from previous 17" MBP which is 1680x1050 (i said the standard, not the CTO 1900x1200).

so, i think it's probably we might see 15" in 1680x1050 and a macbook/air with 1440x900. i just can dream.

but i followed the pattern from when powerbook used to have 1280x800.

i believe the long lasting battery in the 17" is because it has clearly larger space to put on under the case. it might not be fit in the 15". if apple do that in 15", it must be lower capacity battery than the 17".

I think that, even if we hate it, Apple is more than likely going to go with non-removable batteries in all their hardware sooner than later. It's a trend that started with the iPods, and I don't see it going away soon.

We might not even get a matte 15" ever again. Who knows.

i don't have problem with non removable batteries. it's not like we can't replace it ourself just like the iPod. just unscrew and it's done. i have tried it before with my UMBP17" when i replaced the hard drive with SSD and removed my optical drive to make it less in weight.
