Much greener pastures
Perhaps the only good thing about this whole pandemic is that thanks to Zoom, Skype and a bunch of other technologies, we’ve gotten a look into celebrities’ homes.

The most talked about one, of course, has been that of Kliff Kingsbury, seen here during the NFL draft.

Now, this country can’t agree on much of anything, but I think we can all agree...that is sweet! It’s open and yes, it’s rich-person-ostentatious, but in a truly classy way. A+

Contrast that with two home locations Bill Maher uses for his HBO series.

I’m not sure of the look he’s going for. Eclectic? Bohemian? Goodwill chic? I give it a D-. Even Roger Goodell’s basement was better. 😄

And I couldn’t find a picture of it, but I’ve seen Wendy Williams’ digs, and they’re just as bad as Maher’s.

Oh, and one last look back to the NFL draft: Bruce Arians lounging on his patio (probably facing the beach 😏 ) while choosing players. Must be nice. A

I haven’t seen the late night talk show hosts’ places, or too many other celebs. Post with your thoughts, please.

You're judging his entire house from your view of one wall and a window?

You're talking about Maher's place? Those are two different locations, or at least different sides of the same room. He does have a spacious (if nondescript) back yard, but all we can go by is what they choose to show.

The problems have to do where your Home is located because of the taxes in California! Built that Home in low tax State and that is a permanent House Location!
I think that's his home in Arizona. Want the number to U-haul? :D

Mahers house looks like the inside of a classroom build in 1950.

The Kingsbury house is cool, but I find such contemporary doesn’t work well in colder climates. If you’re in SoCal with beautiful weather it’s great. But in climates where it can be cold and dark and grey, like New England, I find the style can be very “cold” and “clinical”. Such places require a little more architectural warmth. If that makes sense...

Goodwell- I don’t like the maple-color woodwork in general, especially when the walls are also a similar color. Too monotone. The cabinetry for some reason reminds me of cheap particleboard + veneer cheesy corporate office furniture rather than a home. The wainscoting should be higher on the walls

Adrians- I guess in a sense it’s more my style... I like the open floor plan and high ceilings. That said, The sliding door doesn’t look very nice. I don’t understand that tiny column creating a pointless archway- looks ridiculous. It makes me think there’s probably a lot more of McMansion nonsense going on. I prefer hardwood over tile. Obviously his furniture situation isn’t particularly pleasing to the eyes.

My alternative career route probably would have been architecture.

Wow, Kliff Kingsbury’s room and yard is gorgeous! I love windows, openness, and minimal. The sectional doesn’t look comfortable to me, but based on his tastes he probably knows better than I.

At one point I wanted to be an architect, majoring in, taking courses in college, because I love the idea of creating live in spaces. I’ve always loved big open spaces like Kingsbury’s, yet I dislike some contemporary/modernistic elements especially in furniture. Generally speaking on the the low end price of homes, I really dislike contemporary architectural elements.

Could you give an example? You’re kind of making me think of what we see on those home makeover shows on HGTV, but those seem to be more middle to upper middle class.
