We use Zoom and Teams at my company. We’ve stuck to zoom for larger meetings (mostly full company meetings). I was tasked with looking at Team’s new “large meeting” feature (whatever they call it) and my director said the quality is too low...

If it’s a 40+ person meeting why does it matter at all what the quality is? Every person’s box is like 2 inch wide?!?
But, doesn't the screen switch to the one individual, when they are speaking? That's when you would really see the poor quality...

Not in the mode they are referring to.

If anyone has any experience with the types of laptops most professionals are using in the same class, like Lenovo Carbons, Dell XPS, Surface Laptop, etc, they would know that a person with one of these new M1 macs will not have the worst video quality of the bunch.

The only ones that will be genuinely better are those who are using surface pros/books, or are on phones/tablets. Devices that have more space to put in better cameras.

Having come from a 2011 MBP to a 2020 MBA i3 to a M1 MBA, I can definitely confirm that the webcam on the M1 is significantly better. Seems to let a lot more light in and is much sharper.

To be honest, who wants a 4k/1080p webcam in a machine anyway? You'll only be able to see the persons wrinkles, blemishes and spots in more detail after all!

If you need a higher quality camera for streaming things, you're more than likely going to use an external camera anyway irrespective of what's in the Mac!
