I just got an IPhone 3GS last Friday. Yesterday I noticed that there is a slight rattle if I tap the back of the phone on top, by the Camera. I noticed when I set it on my desk. I looked at a co-workers and his doesn't do that. I also asked another friend who said he doesn't have that problem either.

I stopped at one of the Apple stores in the area and one of the guys looked at it for about 5 seconds and said that's nothing to worry about they all do that. He showed me his and it also rattled. Is this that common?

The phone has not been dropped or "roughed up" in any way. I even bought an Incase flat black cover on Sunday.

thanx all

Wirelessly posted (iPod touch 32GB: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7C97d Safari/528.16)

Mine does it too - I think it's possibly the autofocus mechanism for the camera

Do you not use the search function ?

It's the auto focus lens, it's normal.

From what I have seen, it is normal. I'm at my 3rd replacement of the 3GS and all 3 of them had the rattle. Even though my last replacement (current phone) doesn't rattle as much as the previous ones did. I did speak to an apple representative about it and was told that it was normal and that it had something to do with the camera lense....not sure but I guess it's a minor issue that we have to deal with :)

Mine rattled. I brought it in last night and got a replacement without a problem. It didn't really bother me at all, but I had to find something to bring up, because i dropped it on pavement the night before and scratched up the whole back and the camera. Yeah, I'm a scumbag. :D

PS. My new one doesn't rattle.
