Just synced my iPad and 80% of my photos are missing, only the pictures I've saved as jpegs remain, is this a flaw with the iPad, Mac or Apple? anyone know hot to solve this?

That depends on how you've synced the RAW files with your iPad: if you use Aperture and you have selected to sync certain projects, then rendered jogs are transmitted. If you just sync a picture folder, then the RAW files aren't synced by design. This is expected behavior.
 
What is the photo app that you are using on your Mac? I have iPhoto and Aperture 3, but have only synced from Aperture. All of the RAW files on my Mac did sync to my iPad, but just as jpegs. This is expected as the iPad and other iOS devices aren't really designed to manage a photo library, just display the contents.

I would like to be able to use my 32 GB iPod touch as a portable HD to store raw files in the field, though. Maybe there's an app for that?
