Lately I keep seeing a popup called "rawstory.com". I've never opened it AFAIK. What is it and how to I get rid of it popping up?

Looks like this is some kind of news website. You might try clearing your browser cache to see if that gets rid of it.

Possible that you accidentally allowed notifications from that website?
I think you're right. Googling "raw story" says it's about nofifications from Opera. Now I have to figure out how to turn it off. About half the time I use Opera and the other half, Safari. About 30 minutes after I posted here, I found a link in Safari that offered to turn off RawStory. After turning it off, I still see RawStory popping up when using Opera.
I give up for now as I have BIGGER fish to fry, but I'm guessing there is a similar "turn off" option is Opera.
