I was at the mall yesterday and checked out a Razer Store. Was most shocked by their laptops. Their design is a clone of the MacBook Pro. It's crazy how close they are. The 16" version even includes an OLED screen. I will admit, that screen looked very nice. I guess imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but really? They don't have even a single original thought in their design?

Check them out. https://www.razer.com/pc/gaming-laptops

I agree that Razer has an OLED on a "MBP" first. Still surprised they copied the industrial design of the MBP so closely.

design of the MBP so closely
Please expound on the how closely that razer copied the Mac. The Razer has had this look since 2018, and its hard to have a completely different look when every laptop generally has the same dimensions. Is there other areas that you see Razer copying apple?

And MBP was a carbon copy of Sony VAIO laptops back in the day.
What I find is fans of a given company, whether we're talking about Macs, cars, or what ever, think their favored company is the one that invented something. Tesla - they did not invent electric cars. Edison - he did not invent incandescent lightbulbs, they both took existing ideas and improved up on them.

If you look at Apple specifically, its rare (or if ever) that they produced/invented a never before seen product or technology

Macintosh - stolen from Xerox
The iPod - music players were around and some already had hard drives
iTunes - they bought a music app called Sound Jam
Iphones - they were not the first to produce a smart phone
Macs (current day) - they almost always were behind others in embracing new technology.
iOs - Nearly every feature we use in iOS was in Android before it arrived in iOS.
MacOS - Came from NextStep (Steve Job's company)
They don't have even a single original thought in their design?

Regarding Apple's design philosophy - I'll leave you with this

Indeed. I will give Jobs credit for taking something that already existed and turning it into something much more usable and valuable to users than the original inventor could. he was very good at that.

I had no idea Apple copied that design from somewhere else. It's crazy to me how close the designs are of the Razer laptops compared to the MBP. Speaker grates, keyboard look/layout, trackpad, shape of the display hinges, the indentation below the trackpad. It all matches up. Wow.

Some people would say the Razer design is better because it contains USB-A ports! And the OLED display is really pretty when I looked at it!

You can relate anything 'new' today to a design yesterday. These days, there really isn't much you can do with laptop designs or mobiles that hasn't already been done.

Of course every manufacturer will claim otherwise but it's hard to design anything in that space today and it won't look like something else even if that wasn't the intention.

Hmm ... but of an exaggeration IMO. And the iPad was designed before the iPhone. And while I had a smart phone before the iPhone, (Blackberry), it wasn't smart. The iPhone incorporated a lot of previous Apple thinking. And while Jobs wasn't there for the Newton, there was a lot of Newton in the iPhone. And people had been clamouring for Apple to put a cell sim into an iPod for years. It's the combination of abilities that has often made an Apple product work - such as a fully workable internet access inside a phone.

Why? Every device/product I listed had a predecessor from another company. Apple did not create/invent those. How is that an exaggeration?

And the iPad was designed before the iPhone
So? What does that have to do with anything? I didn't mentioned the iPad. Btw, the iPad was not the first tablet out on the market, just sayin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Windows Mobile phones came out long before the iPhone - like a decade.

Again, my point is that Apple didn't invent the product, they copied it. I'm not sure why you think I'm exaggerating or do you think Apple was the first to create a MP3 player, or a smart phone or a computer/operating system that used a mouse and was graphical?

I'm not saying Apple did a bad job or the design was poor. They did things that their competitors failed at, pure and simple. Whether we're talking about marketing, design or features, they were able to transform existing devices into must have products.

I responded to the OP who stated that Razer was copying apple and does even have an original thought. I pointed out that Apple has a long history of copying others.

Again, my point is that Apple didn't invent the product, they copied it.

Apple was the first with an effective internet capable smart phone. Inside Apple, the iPad was designed first. Its interface was much the same as Apple, but it was larger and lacked cellular. Very different from everyone else. You also talk about Windows mobile phones - mobile phones is not the point. Those devices more resembled phones with a calculator. And the Newton was first sold in 1996. It lacked cellular, but you could hand write text on it and the Newton would turn that into printed text. It was connected too. It was way beyond in its capabilities what anyone produced for years. The issue with Apple was they did not have a business model for a cellular device. Microsoft did not care about a business model. Hence their attempts failed. It's Apple's abilities to combine function with profit that has been its key capability. Although while the Apple II was immensely profitable, the Mac wasn't. IBM's OS2 failed due to the cost of RAM when it was introduced, and Microsoft made it with Win 3 for the same reason. I think it's futile to point to an idea that was introduced badly and point out it was "the first". IMO that means nothing.

Regarding Apple's design philosophy - I'll leave you with this

The philosophy was draw inspiration from other artists, not completely rip off the entirety of someone elses art and pass it off as your own original work.

Apple Watch - look at Pebble...

That said, though, they are great at taking an idea and making it way, way better.

Well, not always - iTunes sucks, iCloud is not all that great, and AirPods are... well depends if you happen to have the "right" ear profile.

But AW is the best watch out there.
iPhone for a long time was the best phone in the long run.
MacBooks are among the best laptops.
iOS used to be running circles around Android when it came to stability and security. (It didn't get worse, Android just got better).

Hope they re-discover that golden touch.
