I am trying to re-activate my old iPhone (the original model / 2G / Edge).

I have its original SIM card in the phone. In the past, I have just connected it to iTunes and it would immediately activate itself. But now, I can't get it to work. I plug my phone in, and iTunes loads a blank screen that says iPhone. If I right click on my phone in the source list, the only option it gives me is eject, and the phone's screen says to connect it to iTunes / slide for emergency.

Is there any way I can re-activate my phone without jailbreaking it? Or is this happening to anyone else?

Thanks.
