Read Gmail messages won't sync with iPhone

On my Mac, ALL of my emails have been marked as "read." However, while my AOL account syncs fine, my Gmail account's messages must be "read" individually on both ends. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks.

Are you using POP or IMAP?

That's why. Switch to IMAP.

Assuming you're on Leopard Mail.
