Hi, I'm setting up a new HTPC running Windows 7 32bit.

While I'm formatting its media disk as NTFS for performance and stability, I'd love for this machine to have the ability to read and write HFS+ drives (a not-uncommon scenario is a friend giving me a large volume of data on a HFS+ external disk, or an empty disk to fill with data).

I gather my options are MacDrive 8, Paragon and... that's it?

My main question is what're they like for speed, since any copy operations are likely to be very large indeed.

Apple's boot camp HFS+ drivers are still read-only, right?

There is a trial of MacDrive and Paragon, give them a try and then decide what to buy. I don't know how fast they are but remember that USB 2.0 is fairly slow if you're going to use that

HFSExplorer http://sourceforge.net/projects/catacombae/ is another option, tough it doesn't integrate in as an IFS, more like a separate ftp program.

AFAIK it cannot write to HFS+ volumes and OP mentioned that he needs write ability as well.
