A friend of mine has some super old Mac CDs. They were burned in the classic macOS days with toast. They use the apple partition map and HFS file system Modern Mac OS will not touch them.
I can mount them in a Linux VM manually if I tell it they are HFS. But there are illegal characters in the file names so copying them off the CDs fails for about half of them. I get a little farther lying to Linux and telling them to mount with a latin1 codepage but it’s not perfect.
Any tips for moving this off those old CDs?
