reading pdf's annotated with skim

Hi all,
I annotate pdf's with Skim. If I save an annotated file and open it later with Skim on the same Mac, I can read the annotations with no problem.

However:

1. If I send the file to my other Mac (same OS, same Skim version) I can no longer read the notes. This works both ways and it's not due to setting "Hide notes". Any solution to this problem?

2. I cannot read the notes with Preview, is this normal?
