Is it possible to get Real Player or similar for the iPhone?
You failed to mention what it is you need it to do...
The built in iPod software does a decent job of playing music and video which is 1 function of Real Player.
If your looking for streaming audio/video playing within the safari browser thats another issue.
Real playe plays a lot of formats that quicktime doesnt.
people actually use real player still?
I was wanting it to stream audio, mainly from BBC5
Even if Real did make a player for the iPhone, there's no way I would trust them to come anywhere near any hardware I owned.
If there's a site out there that's still requiring Real, that's pretty disturbing.
just go to http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts on your iphone
they have an iphone compatible version of their site
+1 for you, dear poster.
Thanks thats great. I would like to be live too, but thanks for that too.
Yeah I didnt think it was totally live
you coul buy the tuner app from the appstore and configure your own stream with
http://vprbbc.streamguys.net:80 dunno if that is BBC5 that u want but that's all i could find sorry
Great thanks for your help.
can i configure any radio stream to work with this?
with tuner? if there's a live stream address and u know it yeah u can configure in a station
The BBC are going to introduce iPhone compatible live streams later on this year (and iPlayer radio streams). Don't bother with any apps, it's coming.
That said, it would be nice if someone could create a Real Player app for the app store. Wouldn't integrate with Safari but the Real Helix project *should* make it possible.
DUH!? How else do you watch the Dancing Baby or the Hamster Dance?
That's what I was thinking. I thought that thing got killed years ago when people got sick of downloading a new version every 2 days. I'm almost as sick of Web sites using Windows Media Player for their video. Since Microsoft hasn't updated that for Mac in about 3 years, you're alienating about 10 percent of the viewership.
If you're putting video on a Web site, either do it with QuickTime or Flash.
My thoughts exactly lol!
Have you given Flip4Mac a try?
exactly what i was thinking!
EDIT: 500th post! =D
real player is the choice of satan when he plays his ill gotten torrents.
Much <3 for Flip4mac
