Real racing vs Real Racing 2

I have the iPad 1G, and I'm planning to buy a good racing game. I've heard that real racing 2 works great on iPad 2. But since i have iPad 1, will it still work fine, or should opt for Real Racing 1?

Also what are the differences between these 2 versions in terms of gameplay?

If I remember correctly Real Racing 2 came out before the iPad 2 came out, so it should be fine on the original iPad.

I have Real Racing 2, and there are definitely performance issues -- framerate skipping and memory crashes. Minor annoyances really, but makes me curious if I should have gone for the original.. but it's also the best/most addictive ios game I've played so far, so I'm not looking back.

I have Real Racing 2 on my Ipad and notice if you pause the game then the frame rate goes slow once you start to race again for a couple of seconds. Apart for that it's a good app for both Ipads.
