I noticed tonight when I was charging my iPhone (it was at 8%), about 15 mins later I looked at my phone and it showed 8% but then immediately jumped to 39%. Does everyone elses do that?

Yes, when I click the home button to check my progress it does a quick "skip" ahead to where the battery % really is.

Probably just battery-saving tactics, not to update the display when you don't check it. No worries.

I haven't noticed anything like that on mine yet.

I love that.

It's like 'hey, when you were away...look how much i charged for you!!!'

U mean Real Time Battery Status

Apparently, it only queries the batt once in a while, not real time, so sorry.

Or maybe my iPhone is like "...sorry, I fell asleep too. But look what happened while we were both napping."
