Oh. Nice news. But?
Being only able to select up to 12 units one group? Lots of micro? No shortcuts like f2 and f3? No rally points? Worker must be ordered to harvest?
No. Even in campaign no.
The system is outdated. Being free could only benefit those who is looking for nostalgia.

Imagine if AI in SC2 is used in SC1. No one could beat AI then.

That's what make Broodwar competitive for so many years. SC2 macro is too easy for a multiple-year competitive scene, and micro is just a deathball in 1 control-group (and since AI is so good, you barely need more control-groups).

They asked gamers (pro gamers) what they would like to see in the game. They were told in no uncertain terms "don't change the gameplay". The limitations you referenced are part of the gameplay. The game was updated in a way that's respectful to the gamer market that has kept the game alive after all these years. It's smart.

Alright. I am not their target. Only play SC2 but also welcome this change. At least I can play sc1 on a modern OS.

I had completely forgotten about this when it was announced. But I'm installing it now!

Maybe this time I'll take advantage of the official strategy guide!
