If I can buy a new 2014 model for $1250 (compared to $1500 for a 2015 256GB model), and sell it next year when Skylake is released, how much of a loss should I estimate? How much can I realistically get in 2016 for a 2014 256GB 13" MBP? $1000?

Check out the re-sale prices of 2013 models now to get some idea... Well a lot also depends on how much of an upgrade skylark brings along with it .. Plus there is also the possibility of design upgrade to Macbook pro in which case the resale value of older laptops might fall further ...
