Hi guys,

I am experiencing a problem with iTunes that is driving me mad, and after an extensive MRoogle (and Google!) I can't find a solution!

Basically, I have iTunes set to keep my media folder organised, like so:-

I have kept the default iTunes media folder selection.

Basically, my problem is that when I go to my iTunes Media folder, iTunes has decided to move some of my artist folders (in this case The Beatles and Belle and Sebastian) to the iTunes Media folder itself, as opposed to iTunes Media/Music:-

Initially, it did it to around 30% of my library. I then copied them all back to the Music folder, but ended up getting exclamation marks in iTunes as it could not locate the file:-

So basically, the long and short of it is that I wish to have all my music correctly stored in the Music subfolder of the iTunes Media folder. I tried changing the iTunes media folder location to iTunes Media/Music but this did not work.

I did recently sign up for iTunes match and have downloaded a few things from it, so not sure if it relates to this.

If anyone can help in any way I would be eternally grateful!

Thanks,

John

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem or can suggest a potential fix?

Cheers

Just do this and it will fix all your issues -

1. Select all your songs and press delete. Delete them out of iTunes but say no to move to trash

2. Then go to File - Add to Library and add the root folder (music)

3. After it adds your songs then go to File - Library - consolidate library

It should clean up all your songs and put them in the Media Folder like you want

Hi,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Just tried your suggestion, but unfortunately it doesn't work.

When I do it, iTunes imports all the music, but then sorts them into iTunes Media/Artist file.

So basically, I have a blank Music folder, and all the artists are in the iTunes Media folder.

This is getting seriously frustrating!

Glad I found this. I was getting v. frustrated. The option must have been de-selected on the last iTunes update. Now I'd just like an option to specify the location of the folders so I can have my videos on a different drive (without having to deselect the Copy preference every time I import).
