I know there were great claims and great reviews but it really has been amazing and blows away my iPad Pro when it comes to battery life.

full charge from 8am yesterday and got me through a full 10 hour working day and ended the day on 54%.

11.20am next day and it still has 12% left. even without all the power for me the battery life could argue is worth it alone. granted in the office I'm near a charger but Nice to know I can use it for a long period of time even if I'm not. my last MacBook Air I had to put on the charge by 15:00 through the first day so this is a big positive about this amazing machine

been a combined of 12 hours screen time as well so very happy with this.

Battery life sounds awesome- thanks for sharing. I’d also enjoy the quietness my current work machine is a 2017 MBP and the fan is just ridiculous when I’m doing a recording.

yah the fan or no fan has been great. my old MacBook Air was so loud all the time and it was frustrating got to admit.

Wifi 6 alone is worth it.
i have 40+ devices on home wifi. I need as many devices on wifi6 as possible.

Thanks for the exact comparison I’ve wanted to know. Like you, my iPad Pro 12.9 just isn’t giving me the battery life I want. I’ve been using it as my daily driver for the past couple of years, and love most things about it, especially after iPadOS added mouse / touch pad control. But the battery life just isn’t what it used to be, especially now with the new M1 MBA and MBP’s and their double the battery life.

My one concern has been screen brightness on the new MBA - how does it look to you, coming from the iPad Pro? Any issues with it not being bright enough?

Agreed! The battery life has been so awesome!!

I’m on my fourth day without charging from 100% on Saturday with almost 10 hours of combined screen usage.

Not had an issue with brightness got to admit. Very happy with it generally. I dunno if magic keyboard was causing more battery drain on my iPad Pro 12.9 or not but now I have M1 I have my 12.9 with Smart Cover which works fine as I use it for media and generally browsing now

May I ask how much RAM your MacBook Air has? I am thinking of just going with 8GB but I hear that 16GB *may* have slightly better battery life since it isn't writing things to the SSD as frequently. Thanks for any info!

This video address swap files between 8GB and 16GB of ram. It really should not be a factor and they both do it.

Mine is 8GB can’t say I’ve had any issues to be fair. I did think about 16GB but didn’t think it would be needed to be honest. Maybe 16GB of ram is worth it if you are planning to keep it for say 5-6 years
