bear with me: this is my first iPod...
How the heck do I get the contents of a CD onto this baby? I'm talking about a nice shiny CD that I already own, not something I have to buy and download from iTunes.
Told you it was dumb...

To sum up the page that was linked to:

1) Open iTunes.
2) Insert a CD into your computer's disc drive.
3) iTunes should detect the CD and ask you to import it.
4) If you click 'Yes', it will import the entire album. If you click 'No' you can still import it by clicking 'Import', which appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the window (you can also select certain tracks to import if you do not want to import the entire album).
5) If you are connected to the internet, iTunes should automatically add all the track data (such as the track name, artist, album name, etc). If it doesn't, select the tracks you want to add info to, right click, and select "Get Info". Any fields you can edit will then appear.
6) When you're done, connect your iPod. If it's set to automatically sync, all your music will be added to your iPod right away. If it's set to manually sync, drag and drop your tracks to your iPod.

Hope this helps :)

Before you begin ripping a lot of CDs through itunes, you should set up itunes to rip the CDs in the format and bitrate you want.

Open the "itunes" menu.
Choose "Preferences".
Highhlight the "General" tab.
Then click on the "Import Settings" button.
This will take you to the place where you can choose formats and bitrates.
