russian porn site. yeah. right.i "stumble" on that stuff all the time... when i google russian porn and click the link :)

I'm going to need to inspect every link you visited thoroughly to make a fair evaluation of the subject matter and technical risks.

...just kidding don't do it again. Very few companies will knock you for one "errant" click.

Hope a few minutes was worth your job!

Just kidding, can you see if your running the VNP? If your not , you'll be fine..remember, most are looking for abuses, not mistaken sites.

No they can't.

They can depending on whether or not he was using the native Safari web browsing app or a company issued "sandbox" app that routes all traffic via a VPN connection (for Exchange/email, etc.). For example, Good for Enterprise more or less forces all iPad traffic to the internet to go through company VPN routes, logs everything you do on company servers, etc. But you'd know if you were in that app versus iOS (btw, its horrible).

To the OP, if you were just using the native Safari app in iOS you should be fine assuming you weren't already connected to your company's network via a VPN connection. Just erase your history and clear your cache.

If you are very concerned about your job, you can always "break" the iPad and suffer those consequences...which likely are far less severe than termination.

no need to worry, better safe than sorry. A good reset of Safari as others mentioned will be just fine :) ...P.S. it must have been good to remember it was russian. :p

I knew after reading the OP's initial post this wasn't going to end well for him.
I was right. Cut the poor guy some slack. Anyone can "stumble" from time to time. :D

I stumbled on some porn on the iPad, accidentally bookmarked it ;) , and the wonderful iCloud added it to my wifes bookmarks on the iMac

Honestly I would go to your manager and tell him what happened, the worst he can do probably is make fun of you.

I would NOT do this!!!! Depending on the company policy, the manager might HAVE TO report it to HR, and that could get you fired. Keep quiet.

I... I spent a few minutes there and clicked a few more pics before my shock went into overdrive and I realized what I was doing.

LOL - human nature strikes again.

FWIW - I have had a similar experience. My ex was into decorating doll house's for the kids, so when our second was born I was given the task of finding a kit. I did a Google search during a lunch break. You'd never guess what you'd find if you use 'Doll's house' as a Google search term.

BUT, if the top dog finds out and you told your manager, he might let you slide. Honestly, I don't think anyone would get fired if you told them you accidently stumbled upon it, I mean, c'mon, how many of us have been browsing and accidently get an inappropriate pop-up or something? Just my opinion :p

Wirelessly posted

Mostly likely the iPad wasn't connected thru VPN or proxy because most companies block porn sites.

If you do get caught just blame your drunk, unemployed was using it :)

No they cannot see where you went on your home wifi.

Go to Preferences, Safari, and under privacy you will see "Private Browsing."

When this is turned on you can surf in peace as it leaves no trail. It's as if you weren't there. Be sure to go to the "Accept Cookies" box below it and set it for "Never" that way you are sure that your leaving no cookies.

Under those boxes you will see two that are "Clear Histor" and "Clear Cookies and Data." Click on them and choose "Clear" when asked.

The company now should have no record of what you did at home.

A really good IT department may get some hints from the fact that the History and Cookies are clean, but thats about all. A lot of people have "Private Browsing" turned on just so they can surf the web without picking up a lot of adverisements from where they've gone.

When I was looking for a new car I got a lot of junk coming my way from dealers I'd visited on line until I used private browsing. The I could look to my hearts content without getting pop up ads from Honest John or Crazy Al's Car Lot. :D
