Im currently transferring 387GB of data from Documents to WD My studio 2 via FW800.

I did the same back up yesterday using a WD USB3 2TB Essentials and it did it in within 4 hours (USB 2).

Why is it taking so long? Is this a sign of a dead hdd?

I made a back up of my documents and want a second as im doing a fresh install....

EDIT! it now says 9 days!

Cancel copy, reboot, and try again. FW800 should be much faster than USB2, but I'm sure you know that already.

Try to wait for a few more minutes and see if the progress bar completion time becomes shorter as the copying goes on. Like the days will become hours as the copying progresses.

Alas, it was a faulty WD my studio drive - I had two fail in one week! Both out of warranty so bought a inatek USB bay to put the failed drives in - one was completely dead, the other has been ok

Oh and amazon just sent me another WD my studio with no exterior packaging!
