I was really looking forward to this feature, but I don't really see the point of it when my display goes blank after a short interval. Kind of defeats the purpose of requiring a charger to be connected for standby mode to activate.

This might be the thing that actually pushes me to upgrade to a newer phone. Well played Apple...

Just be warned the always on display on the 14 Pro is known to "intelligently" turn off when it pleases so it may not be a solution depending on how you want to use it.

How do you even use standby mode? The iPhone 14 Pro is so too heavy, it won’t stay in landscape mode on any of my MagSafe stands, rotates slowly till the camera is pointing down.

Ugh.

Then what's the point of standby mode? I was thinking it would be good on my nightstand and I could ditch my Echo Show.

It could be fine for you, Apple says it "learns your habits". I just know that a lot of people were saying it would often turn off late at night or in the dark.
