Hi guys, recently, the real plaer SP downloader does not work properly.

    Mac 10.6.5
    Safari
    Realplayer SP (the newest one)

    i.e.
    >1 I open a youtube video (V1), then I can see the video start downloading in Real Player Downloader,
    >2 The video V1 remains open, then I open a new video (V2) on a new tab
    >3 The video V1 downloading disappears, and it is actually replaced by V2
    >4 it goes on like it, a infinite loop. So, also the most recent video is downloading on Realplayer downloader. However, I can still watch all the open videos, I just cannot download them except the most recent video.

It worked fine about 1 week ago.

Does anyone have the same problem, or maybe have a solution?

    Thanks

    same problem

I am having the exact same problem, and it only started after I installed the latest java and safari updates from Apple, so am wondering if the problem is somehow related? Have you found anything more?

hi guys, what you should do is forget about real player. use firefox, get the video downloader addon from them, it works on all video content on any site! as long as its streaming through firefox. hope this helps. ive been using it for about a year after having loads of crappy realplayer problems. they should have the "download now" pane in mac like they do in windows that was good.

    RealPlayer's Doing This Themself?

Here's what I fear is going on.

Realplayer may have removed this long-used free feature to get us to buy their Realplayer Plus Premier version. The funny thing is that I discovered the same limitation before I even downloaded the new SP, thinking that by doing so would fix the problem. So what unknowing code was snuck onto my computer that caused the issue?

If you look on Real's Plus page description, its says:

    Premium Feature

    Speed Up Your Downloads
    - 3X faster than normal downloads
    - Parallel downloads to speed up performance

    http://www.real.com.au/?mode=rp_plus

Kinda rotten to have the feature in the free version and then 'take it away' to-get-us-to-pay, if that's what they did.

I sure don't use Realplayer either, I use VLC to view YouTube and similar Real vids. But I do you RealPlayer Downloader which up until now, was the easiest and I think only way to actually download the videos onto my hard drive.

If there is another App out there that does this, I'd love to hear about it if Real doesn't fix the Downloader issue.
