Ohh yes. I had this machine and I loved it.

Yep, I still have mine in the closet but unfortunately, after two trips to Apple repair, they never could fix it. Oh well, I'm hanging onto it for really no good reason other than it was the first Intel-based Mac. Actually, I wish I had held onto my original Mac from 1984 just for nostalgic reasons.

I hope the rumors about announcing the new iPads at a separate event turn out to be false. I want them to be released around the same time as the new iPhones.

Let's say they are going to put the new iPads on sale in October. Are they really going to have two media events a few weeks apart from one another? Maybe.

With their chunky edges these iPads look like they should be the model 'before' the iPad 2.

I know this design allows for bigger batteries and is actually thinner, but it does look like a downgrade aesthetically.

So future iPads should have edges that are sharp as a knife?

I hate the tapered edges of the iPad 2/3/4, they hurt my hands when holding the device more than 30 seconds, especially with the increased weight of the iPad 3/4.

I think it's one of the worst casing design Apple has ever produced and I can't believe they used it for three generations of iPads. Furthermore, I think the the iPad 1 casing looked (and felt) better even if it was thicker.

I'm looking forward to the new mini-style iPad 5, though like some others here I'm now hesitating between the retina mini and iPad 5.

Agreed, the iphone "5C" has the same problem. It's as if the designers were just lazy.

yes, theyre lazy. you got them. these designers at the the most successful tech company ever and one the most intense workplaces are....lazy.

i have no idea what youre talking about. ive had ipad 1, 2, 3 and mini....and cant think of anything to complain about w/ the new cases.

Who mentioned Microsoft? We're talking Apple. This has been a long time with nothing to get me excited. I miss that feeling from them.

that feeling is purely inside of you. it's not the result of what theyre building. product categories mature and neither phones nor tablets are brand new anymore.

----------

Yet another speed bump I guess.

yawn...do you make the same complaint about annual improvements to laptops? home stereos? nope. face it -- as products mature there is less brand new stuff to put in them, short of gimmicks. increasing the speed and decreasing the weight is the name of the game, and will continue. to the person shopping for a new device, that's all that matters....

Waiting for it

I m looking for a new ipad for reading e book. I don't want to share ipad with family. I already have ipad4
If nexus 7 lte give phone call functionality and kindle app scale right comfortably. I probably give up apple.
I found indention problem even on full size ipad. Really not happy with it.

Why not stereo speakers on the top and bottom like the new nexus 7. It really does give the stereo effect and also makes it much louder. Or even better do front facing speakers like the nexus 10.

Looks like it will have stereo speakers just like the Mini now has.

Yep - failed 'stereo' speakers, mounted right next to each other on the short side of the device.

No use for movie/tv/music video watching.

This.

Other tablets are now much better choices for media playback than the iPad.
