hey guys. I’ve been using my Apple watch for about a year and a half now and have been trying to reach my goals everyday. With the exception of the move section, I pretty much hit my goals daily, but I’m wondering what other people’s goals look and if I should trying harder. Right now I have an exercise goal of 30 minutes (I use the workout video T25), 12 hours of standing, and 940 calories of moving. What are you goals like?

The goals are, and should be, different for everyone. Simply put, the move/exercise goals for say, a 70 year old fat man, would be entirely different for a 23 year old ex track runner. It all depends on your physical metrics. Best way to put it is to keep increasing the move goal, (the only one you actually CAN adjust, I believe) until it becomes somewhat of a chore to meet. That would be the one that would motivate you the most, and therefore, the best for you.

Getting an series 1 watch on wed to see if I like it (and then might upgrade to watch 4 whenever it comes out). Anyway, any advice on how to set up goals or is it a typical apple app that asks me to input my data and ask what i want to do (lose weight, build muscle, whatever)? Thanks

Exercise and Stand are the same for everyone. I’m pretty active, working out every morning, and my Move is set at 750 calories.

I have my move ring set from day 1. Put in my height, weight and gender and selected "moderate" activity level.

The AW selected 700 calories as the target and I've left it there since.

For me, 700 calories means about 12,000 steps and 6 miles or so. To achieve this during a normal work day, I have to do at least a 3 mile walk at about 3.5 mph pace. Fewer miles if I'm busy walking around at work and more miles if I've sat on my ass all day.

I run typically 3 days a week, so on those days, I rarely need to do any extra walking to get to 700 calories. Same if I've mowed the lawn.

So I've pretty much have my move ring set to a level that requires a conscious effort to be active.

I bumped my active goal once, to 340 a day. I can usually get that a couple extra walks during the day. It's the secondary goals that are difficult. IE this month I have to average 73 minutes a day. What kills me is I could get more calories doing intense workout but I'm taking it easier because I know I need minutes, not effort.
