Reboot changes sound out device

Every time I reboot, OSX changes my sound output device back to "Internal SPeakers." And every time I log back in I change it to "Line Out".

This seems to be new since 10.6.1 - can anyone suggest how I can make "Line Out" stick as the default - even if I reboot my machine?
