Sorry, tried searching threads and couldnt find any clear answers.

What are considered the 'top' 128GB SSD's on the market right now? Also what about a 64GB boot drive? Can anybody point me in the right direction? All the talk of trim, controllers, etc confuses me!

    Thank you.

Trim is pointless, the best controller is Sandforce and I recommend either

    1. OWC Mercury Extreme Pro - http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/SSDMX120/

    2. OCZ Vertex 2 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...0227551&cm_re=vertex_2-_-20-227-551-_-Product

Both are of the 120gb variety.

Make sure you carefully read about the Vertex 2 under 180GB in size. They are allowing more % to be set aside for over provisioning to make up for the difference between the new 25nm NAND being used in the drives. Right now, depending on where you buy from, it's hit or miss if you get the new 25nm vs the older 34nm. They are supposedly identical, but the benchmarks show the new 25nm may be slower. There are a lot of threads going on @ OCZ.

Aside from the benchmarks, the real complaint is around the size of actual available free space. The advertised drive of 120 ends up being 107 if I read the thread correctly, due to what gets set aside for the Sandforce to do it's thing.

That said, OWC may be the safe way to go for now.
