    Hey. First post here.
I was wondering if I needed a receipt if i was to bring in a broken ipod for them to replace? The reason I ask is there are a lot good deals on craigslist, but not all of them have receipts, so is there a way to still keep the warranty?
Like for example I have verizon, and i was able to bring in my broken phone and they replaced it without checking anything. All they did was look up the phone number and see that it was still under warranty. Would Apple be able to look up the serial number and see if it's still under warranty?

And, I know this question gets asked a lot, but should I get the iPod touch now or wait? I was going to hold out for a price drop but it seems my ipod has recently died, so I'm ipodless :( What do you guys think?

Nope, don't need that receipt. They'll just look up the serial...

Apple doesn't flag down stolen items, unless it was stolen from an actual retailer

Doesn't mean it wouldn't still be a problem to worry about.

Some people do still have morals.

Well if it was stolen from me couldn't I contact apple and they look flag it?

Also I'm kinda getting suspicious with these craigslist ads. People say they are selling their unopned ipods because they realize they need money. Why don't they just return it if it's unopened? Kinda shady.

No Apple will not flag any items that are stolen, the most they will do for you is transfer you applecare to a new computer/iPod you buy, but other than that, Apple doesn't really care if your iPod/computer is stolen.
