Received iPhone 5s on ios7

so I bought a 5s 32gb space grey on eBay for $163 and it wouldn't work at first but I'm guessing it was the backlight cause I was able to shine a light on the display and see everything. I got through the wifi settings and it lit up. I looked at settings. This iPhone is on iOS 7.1. I got so lucky. I've always wanted to see iOS 7 again.

My girlfriend received it first because the seller didn't ship to APO and she sent it to me because she had to go to basic. But I guess it works and I hit he jackpot with iOS 7.1

iOS 7 is jailbreakable. Maybe that's worth not updating for you?

A mixed bag.

On the one hand is jail-breaking it. On the other is you may have to update it to get apps to install (as you said).

Easier to stay on older OS when it's an iPad. Less so with a phone. Especially if security updates are important to you.

Try to make it work. But a 5s runs decently (I heard) on the later iOS versions.

The 5S flew on iOS 7. I still have mine jailbroken on iOS 7.1.2 and it runs very well.
