Hey, y’all. I’m trading in my XR for a 12 next week.

I’ve been doing all the fun stuff. Watching comparison videos. Watching/reading reviews. All the usual stuff and patiently awaiting delivery.

Then I came back to this forum, which I really haven’t read too much lately because I have an older phone. And all I see is green/yellow/raised blacks/flickering.

I know about previous generation phones being warmer than others, but this is different.

Is buying the 12 a crapshoot? I don’t normally scrutinize my new iPhones, but now I feel like I must. Am I just being paranoid as a result of reading this forum again?

Yeah I would unwind and relax. What you have to remember is people come to sites to look for solutions to problems. Or just plain complain about very minor problems. The 12 is a great phone. My step-son has one and he loves it. My wife and I have the 12 Pro Max and they are a fantastic phone as well.

I have a 12 Pro Max and it is an awesome phone. I am totally happy with it. I believe all the iPhones in the 12 series are excellent iPhones.

Most probably. The biggest difference upgrading from your XR will be an OLED screen and better cameras, IMO. If you do not like the screen for any reason, you can return it, but do not go looking for issues. It is just a waste of energy.

PS Make sure to update it to the latest iOS, as my iPhone 12 mini’s screen seems to have gotten “cooler” after the latest update or the one before it.

IMHO the biggest problem is people reading these forums about other people's "problems". Then they start actively looking for problems on their own device, even if they don't see anything at first. Sometimes it goes beyond being silly. The ones that crack me up are the ones that will admit that they didn't notice their screen tint being off at first until they compared it with another phone. If it didn't bother them before, why is it suddenly a problem sitting next to another phone?

Then there was the people with the "gap" between the glass and the frame. Every iPhone is made this way but somehow, these people had huge gaps that they could see the electronics inside the phone. LOL Give me a break.

Another one was the AirPods Pro "crackling" among other things. People having them replaced multiple times. There were all kinds of thread about problems with the AirPods Pro when I was looking to buy them. I hesitated at first and then bought them. They have been nothing but great for over a year now. Even did a run through the washer without missing a beat.

Just buy, use and enjoy your phone. Don't look for problems. If you happen to notice something that bothers you, contact Apple to have it taken care of or return it.

Don't look to posts on MR as being the norm for the new iPhone. These forums are not representative of the whole. Doing that will save you a lot of needless worry.

T-Mobile threw $830 on the table over Mother’s Day weekend to trade in my XS for a 12 pro, making it a no-brainer for me to upgrade. I’ve been really enjoying it, no issues. The notch is still lame, but I hide it with positioning my wallpaper image with rounded corners, making the top bar black.

Seems to I have found an issue after my return window lmaooo

Yes you are a bit paranoid most likely. After over 500 posts here and nine years on the counter you may someday maybe start to see that users tend to post in user forums about issues they have with their stuff, not about their satisfaction status.

Enjoy your new device when it arrives!
