Recently downgraded from 2015 MBP to 2012 MBP

It's not so much the kind of signals as it is the distance from the source of the signals. When I sit in front of a WiFi-enabled MBP, I get throbbing in my temples and headaches. If I keep the WiFi off, no symptoms. I get the same symptoms if I sit close to a router, especially one with 5G enabled. So I keep my distance from those, too.

Good luck with the new (old) Macbook!

I've never seen a clear double blind study where EHS has proven to be a real phenomenon. Have you actually done any real scientific testing? I'd hate to downgrade to an older Macbook because of some sort of reverse-placebo effect, but I'm interested in hearing more about real medical and scientific studies if you know any.

I just downgraded to a Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh and I’m not looking back! I just can’t cope with the flimsiness of these new Macs.

I pulled out my original 1984 Macbook the other day. That was a keyboard you did not have worry about eating on. My the 10MB (yes megabyte) hard drive was 8" X 8" X 3" and needed AC power, so portability was a little poor.

And 17" 2011. And 17" 2007.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if any generation with a dGPU suffers failed GPUs at this point.
Correct with these two. Both were, IIRC, associated with faults in the GPU itself. At your second point, no - this would have caused an uproar for sure since years.

I didn't say they do have failures. I said I wouldn't be surprised. Having had 6? 7? replacement boards in two laptops because of failed GPUs has made me wary. I still bought a 2018 MBP but I have no illusions about it being immune from failures.

But, yea, I am happy with it. I paid about $1,000 cdn for the 2012, 13-inch (I can max out the RAM up to 32GB, but don't quite need it right now). The 2015 only had 128GB SSD. I think my next laptop will be a Hackintosh...unless PC laptops haven't caught up with the Retina displays by then (maybe they have already caught up, I have no idea about PCs these days). ;)

$1000 CAD for MBP 13" 2012 sounds like a total rip off, 32GB RAM isn't supported by this machine, 16GB it's a maximum, rMBP 2015 model has upgradable SSD
