Hi all!

Have someone recently purchased the LG Ultrafine 5K monitor? Is see all the bad reviews but I hope the issues are fixed today?

Im starting at a new job and will choose this monitor for my 15" tbMBP because it only needs one cable for charging (And has 3 more ports in the back). Also the resolution is great for Sketch, Adobe etc.

Anyone got this monitor recently? :)

I didn't not purchase it recently but considered it. I hope I can help.

If you can wait, the Apple display is probably going to be amazing.

IMO, even if the panel is great, the design of the LG is boring for an item of that price. If I buy that kind of display I plan to keep it for a long time and since my office is in the middle of my apartment the design matters to me.

If you can't wait, from what I read, it seems most of the issues have been fixed and it is a pretty good display overall.

I agree the design is boring :D But no other monitor have webcam, speakers, mic, 5K, 85W charging, 3 USB C ports and so on.

What are we waiting for? Dont think Apple is going to make their own displays anytime soon.

They said they would release one along with the new Mac Pro. But the only thing they said about the release data is that it won't be in 2017. Maybe in 1 month, maybe in 5 years, who knows!

I'm upgrading my setup next year for sure, my plan is I'll wait for the new display and maybe a good Mac Mini. If those are not released or don't suit my needs I'm buying an iMac at the next refresh.

I’ve had a pair of these running with my 2016 MBP since they became available and, other than having them replaced free of charge by Apple due to the original WiFi issue, I’m very happy with them. Probably the only remaining annoyance is the quirky auto-brightness issue but apart from that they’ve been pretty solid.

As for being a “boring” design, that’s what I want from a display as it focuses attention on the glorious image! Consider that many people prefer the black bezelled iPad because they find the white bezel distracts from the image. I even find the display stands really stable even though they are sitting on a standing desk and arranged with bezels just a couple of millimetres apart.

I’m interested to see what Apple’s new pro display will be like but I certainly don’t expect it to be able to justify a purchase as the price will be very high. That said, I got my 5K LG displays at the initial, reduced price and probably wouldn’t have bought two at full price.

My advice is to make use of Apple’s 14 day return policy and make your own mind up. Apple are selling this display in good faith, you are buying in good faith so if you end up returning it for a legitimate reason then so be it!

I got the display a week ago, everything is very nice after calibration. No issues so far at all, even got the router 1meter away.
