Thanks for sharing the picture and details. I really like that they decided to have the dongle with a cable rather than stubby adapter like the original. It's probably less likely to cause damage if bumped.
Do you by chance have any USB midi controllers that you could test with an app like GarageBand? It really bugs me that apple locks out the USB (for CoreMidi usage) on the iPhones and iPods. It shouldn't be this way since dedicated midi adapters work on them. I'm really hoping that the adapter works for this purpose on the iPhone 5 even if it doesn't work for camera/picture importing.
