Hey guys,

So recently my optical drive stopped working. I want to get a new one but I'm unsure which would be my best option.

Was wondering if you could give advice on which one would be best to buy (preferably with a good price/quality ratio).

Thank you

I have the Samsung SE-506AB Blu Ray drive which I bought 2 years ago and has been great. It seemed to be the best combo of price and quality at the time I bought it. I wanted a Blu Ray drive. It's slim and powers perfectly with one USB connection.
I don't use it to view movies, but I have ripped movies so I could transfer them to my iPad (using handbrake).

Thank you for the suggestion but I was looking for an internal one!

If you want Blu-ray support, about your only choice for an internal drive is Panasonic. IIRC, the model number is UJ267. That might be for a Blu-ray burner though, which is a bit pricey. I'm pretty sure there's just a reader but don't know the model number off hand.

Get whatever superdrive replacement is recommended for your model. Prices seem to vary.

All optical drives made in this form factor are basically pieces of crap, so buy from somewhere that has a decent return policy if it is DOA.
