I'm looking to upgrade my first gen Intel Core Duo iMac hard drive. It was originally 250gb but I upgraded to 750gb and now need more room.

Speed is my primary concern, any suggestions?

Just ordered a Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 32MB Cache

Will have fun tomorrow installing and finally upgrading to snow leopard.
:)

Just to resurrect an old thread.

I bought the same drive a SAMSUNG HD103SJ for my early iMac Intel version. Pig of a job to fit but much faster than the stock 160Gb WD that had failed.

I did initially jumpered the drive to force SATA1.5 speeds but the drive was not recognised, however having it jumper-less works fine.

Applications load twice as fast but you do hear quite a bit of seek noise. Idle its as quiet as the stock drive but now I have 950Gb of space to fill.
