I'm researching cases for an IPad 3 that will be used outdoors on construction and job sites. I've come across the Gumdrop but would like some recommendations and feedback on any cases you've used in the field.

Thanks,

Rick

Griffin Survivor, Lifeproof nuud + the Zagg for it, Gumdrop, etc

Otterbox will allow dust through the camera cutout, but it is good too

As noted in other posts, you can't use a screen protector with the Nuud - if it doesn't touch bare glass, it can't seal the case properly. There's also the 'ziplock bag' type cases too, such as the ones for rafting if environmental sealing is all that's required.

Look into Zagg. They actually created a screen protector that is the shape of the screen after you install the Nuud.

I've got the griffin survivor and really like it. Fits well, great protection and I like the feel of it. Keeping the camera flap out of the way when you're using the camera is a pain though as the little cut out to hold it doesn't work well.

If you're looking for heavy duty protection, and sounds like you are, i would say Lifeproof or Griffin.

If you really need heavy-duty protection, get an Otterbox Defender. That would protect it against pretty much anything.

How about the brand "iLuv"? anyone have used it?

There's a crapload of iLuv cases; the Epicarp, the Origami, etc. Which one are you referring to? None of them are ones I'd recommend using on a construction site or outdoors for anything more than sitting on a patio.

I have been looking at both the Otterbox and Griffin Survivor for a few months. I have found that since the announcement of the iPad4 the prices have dropped on Amazon.

Just a heads up, it might help make your decision.
