I have the latest iMac and bought the 1TB SDD which is almost full, 90% are photos of my kids and vacations. Looking for a fast external SSD around 2TB that won't break the bank.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Why not use Amazon Photos - part of Amazon Prime which gives you unlimited full quality photo storage - you can access it from anything that connects to the Internet - plus you get two day shipping on all Amazon items (Prime Eligible), plus numerous movie and TV streamed services - for $99/yr.

It depends on your definition of "won't break the bank". Check Amazon for "2TB SSD". It looks like the least expensive there is a $262 ADATA 2TB SATA drive that would also need an external enclosure.

Yeah, we need a definition of "won't break the bank".

There are options out there though.

Ever consider using a HDD?

Samsung T5 or GTech G-Drive Mobile SSD. The only thing about the G-Drive is, though, that it has a very short cable, which can be annoying. I prefer the Samsung T5 for that reason and have been using Samsung's T- series since 2015. Prices have come down significantly and the T5 2 TB is much more reasonably priced than it was when it first came out over a year or so ago.

Actually, Amazon has raised its price on the Prime membership now; it's no longer $99.00.

I personally wouldn't go this route. Not saying its not a good route for someone else, but not for me for a couple main reasons. 1) I dont (fully) trust cloud services. 2) if I decide to part ways with amazon prime? 3)raw images, duplicates etc. things otherwise taking up too much space. 4) upload/download inconvenience.

I empty SD cards weekly, or monthly and average 20-60gigs per card. There are times when I am unloading 250+ gigs of video and pictures....
