Recommend Apple?

Hi!

Quick question:
How likely is it that you would recommend Apple to a friend on a scale from 0 to 10?

Apple what? Software? Computers? Phones? Other devices? Apple is in multiple product categories these days and my recommendations would vary depending on what sort of device the friend is looking for.
 
Depends on what the needs of my friend were at the time. I've recommended Macs to those that I feel would benefit from having one, I've recommended other brands to those whose needs make Windows a better match.
 
I mean the overall company. If you would merge together all those things that Apple include, on what number would it land?
 
That still doesn't make sense.

I recommend apple products to friends/family based on their needs and apple's ability to meet that need.

They're a multi-billion dollar corporation looking to make profits, not some sort of person who's looking to win a popularity contest

I would say 7. It depends on product and a person though. iPods are easily the best MP3 players IMO but iPhone ain't the best phone for everyone, same thing for Macs.

Apple doesn't suit for everyone

Agreed, but the OP isn't asking this, just if you would recommend apple. Besides, I think is a risky move asking for investing advice on the internet.

That's actually just what it is. A popular company with loyal customers make profits. And that is exactly why I ask this question. I'm trying to see if you could put a number on how likely it is that you would recommend them. Of all the times you have recommended technical products how many % have been Apple?

As my earlier post, I'd put a high number towards an iPhone if a family/friend needed a smart phone and the iPhone would suit his needs. I would also recommend a Mac if the same person needed something and the mac fit his/her needs.

I cannot put an arbitrary number on it, because one size does not fit all, and for some folks a Mac is a poor fit, or they don't want to embrace the walled garden approach apple takes with its iPhone.

I'm a loyal customer only in that their products fit my needs. I'm not a fanboy or gushes after the mac/apple all the time. If the product solves a need, I'll use it. If they don't I won't buy it.

For instance, I have not purchased an iPad and its unlikely I will in the near future. Its a great looking product, but it doesn't do anything for me.
 
There's not one straight-forward answer. I recommended a Mac Mini for my sister and bro-in-law because they're too effing lazy to use anti-virus and keep Windows clean and safe. A Mac Mini, or more specifically, OS X was a better match for them as it does most of the work itself.

However a friend was recently after a cheap & cheerful laptop- around £400- which Apple simply don't do.

Horses for courses.

Having said that, I'd always recommend an iPod over any other kind of media player/mp3 player.
 
I haven't recommended Apple in the past year or so. 3/10. Seriously. Their hardware is overpriced and their closed ecosystem with the iPhone, iPod, and now iPad is just wrong. I may recommend a 13" Macbook, however, for those that want an Apple portable (the trackpads are pretty sweet). Even then I'd tell him or her to buy used or refurbished. Or better yet, a last-gen model when the price actually comes down to a reasonable level.

EXTREMELY Likely!
Apple Products in general, 9 to 10. I recommend them to friends a lot.

There's only a few situations I can think of where an Apple product wouldn't be the best choice.

Apple Stock? Probably better than Dollars right now. 😱 It's a shame I missed the big run-up so far. But I don't do stocks.

Why not put a poll on this thread?

Mark me down for a 9⅔! 🙂
