FileVault?

Try FileVault - it comes with Mac OS X and encrypts your files using your login password. You can enable it by going to 'Apple->System Preferences' menu and click on 'Security'. You can access the same dialog by pressing Command-Spacebar (to launch Spotlight search) or clicking on the Spotlight icon on the top right corner of your screen, type 'filevault' and click on the 'Security' option it shows (as the first result).

i use Disk Utility, its in your Applications folder > Utilities

create a new disk image and you can encrypt and password protect your images 😀

my images?! how dare you imply i view porn! 😱

actually, i want a file encryption software so when i use iDisk i can encrypt the files before putting them on. I already use the Image way of encrypting files on my mac, very very good......i keep loving the mac more and more! (and i used automator to rename tons of fles yesterday!!!) .........but i thought the imaging way of encrypting was alittle long winded for single files, and not appropriate if im wanting to use the files on a windows machine elsewhere.

anyway know of a standalone cross platform encryption software?
