recommend me some cybia apps for 3.1.2 2G!

just upgraded my 2G to 3.1.2...what cybia apps should i get? this is the first iphone i've had

also, i heard there is an app to make the speaker (one that goes to ear) louder and i downloaded volume booster but it didn't work at all

what should i get? how do i change icons and pretty it up?!

Download winterboard to customize the phone with themes. You can download MakeItMine to change the word "AT&T" in the corner to whatever you want. Also you can download SwirlyMMS to send and receive picture messages. It works great.

where is a good place to find/preview themes?

You can find many themes on cydia. Also you can download themes online and use SSH to move them onto the phone. Cydia is easier though.

I personally use Quick Reply SMS, Backgrounder, and Kirikae. LockscreenInfo is also good.
