I'm considering getting an external display for use with an iPad pro 11" (2019). Any suggestions on size, resolution, or even particular models that have been used with success?

Thanks in advance

if it's helpful, the monitor is for an elderly user who is very comfortable with an iPad but needs a bigger display for word processing. a pc or mac is not practical; the larger iPad is a consideration but not the optimal choice for use most of the time when not writing. an external monitor is, in theory, the best solution, if it can be done effectively.

You should choose a USB-C monitor, as that way the cable that connects to the iPad also charges it. I use the LG ones that Apple sells — I have a couple at different locations. Works great. This with the new mouse support in iPadOS can be perfect for times when you want to be looking at a larger screen at a more ergonomic height. The one they sell now is a slightly newer and bigger version than mine, but pretty similar. I think it is priced higher than your ideal budget, though.
