Looking for a GOOD laptop cooling pad for 13 inch MPB,

any recommendations? Most seem to not be that effective/great.

Better to use an angled aluminium stand with a Mac notebook. The typical powered cooling pad's designed for Windows notebooks don't really do much due to the design of Mac's.

The angle of the stand will slightly increase the Mac's convection and the aluminium will wick away heat from the base plate. If you do opt for a powered cooling pad, look for one with a large single fan and can push 100CFM or better.

You can also augment an aluminium stand with a USB fan placed at the side of the MBP and or use an application such as Mac Fan Control to manually increase fan RPM. Bottom line is the Intel based Mac's run hot by design, the Apple Silicon Mac's I wouldn't worry as they remain physically cool unless under full load for extensive periods of time.

It's cheap.

Wood is a great insulator.

The hard surface allows great air flow under the laptop.

Doesn't get too hot or too cold on your lap, like a metallic one gets, and it feels sturdier than a plastic one.

Buying one a bit bigger than the laptop allows for a bit of extra protection for connected wires (like power), and gives extra grip, when moving the laptop.

I used one of these with my MacBook Air 11" (smaller one), and my MacBook 13" (2019).

Not needed one after getting the M1 MacBook Air last year, but my SO still uses a wooden chopping board for her MacBook 13" (2019).

It's lo-tech (no-tech?), but it works.
