Recommendations for Digital Recorders

For those of you who record lectures or meetings with digital recorders, which models do you recommend?
Aside from the ability to transfer files via USB, what features are good to have on the device?
I considered using my iPhone, but I am not comfortable leaving it in front of a lecture of 300 other students.
I'd rather not spend more than $50 on it if I don't have to, but I can flex a little if the difference in quality is significant.

I recorded nearly every lecture in college-I have to say that the olympus seems to be the best. I would personally get something with at least 1GB of space, as you will likely need something with a high quality mic since you may not be able to sit close enough for a quality recording.

It seems pretty nice that the USB drive is built into the recorder and it doesn't require an extra cable. Do you feel it's worth $80?
