Hi all,

I've been doing some googling, and I wanted to see if any of you have experience/thoughts on a setup I'd like to have:

2.7 GHz i7 RMBP w/650M 1024MB running an apple 27" thunderbolt display (I already own this) AND
another, second display running at the same time, but oriented vertically.

What would be a good option for a second display that would be compatible with that setup? Is it possible to mix thunderbolt and non-thunderbolt displays in a multi-display workstation? Many thanks!

Edited to add: this will be used for composing and arranging music (the old way, not as a DAW) and for some very light video editing, so I don't think 4k or higher is necessary, though I'd be happy to entertain using one at that level!

Sell your monitor and buy a 4K TV with HDMI 2.0, or better DisplayPort 1.2 (older Panasonic):

- 40" - This is the size I wanted. Maybe text is a bit small, I haven't tried.
- 48" - Text size is great, but the screen is a bit too big for the Mac menu bar, even when curved.

Maybe 46" would be the ideal size (4x 23" FullHD monitors).

If you care about the smarts, you should get a 2015 model and settle for HDMI 2.0 (like I reluctantly did).
