I'm new to Mac, so some pointers would be nice.

- What is a simple-but-efficient FTP application? I'm used to something like Filezilla. Perhaps an equivalent would be nice. Does the Mac come with one by default?

- What a decent desktop recording application? Does the Mac come with one? Or do I need to download one?

- How do I take a screenshot? (Can I select the area?)

1. FTP application: Filezilla is available for Mac OS X. Then there is also Transmit.
2. QuickTime Player X > File > New Screen Recording, or iShowUHD or ScreenFlow or Camtasia
3. Taking Screenshots in Mac OS X

6. All that info could have been found via a simple www search, and yes, I know, that this is a message board to spread information, but it severely lacks showing others how to get the information themselves.

- For FTP you can download Filezilla for Mac, but others apps like Transmit are great.

- Quicktime can record your screen but if your need a dedicated app with more features I would recommend ScreenFlow.

- To take a screenshot of the entire screen (Shift + Command + 3) to select an area (Shift + Command + 4).
