My brother recently made some changes and went off the iPhone. He still uses a smart phone and I continue to love using my iPhone. I have a conversation thread for the time when he did use an iPhone over iMessage. He can only get my messages now if I send text messages to him via SMS. Sure, I can click on the conversation bubble and force them as SMS, but only after they are sent via iMessage.

As I was trying to figure out how to resolve this, to automatically send via SMS to my brother's non-iPhone, the messages did start automatically going through via SMS after I forced 7 of them via SMS in a 1 minute time frame. Is that what it takes? Or is there a more elegant method of configuring a contact that SMS should be used to communicate?
