Between the wait, reviews, and some of the concerns expressed on MRF, I bought a Classic Buckle today. They had them in stock at the local Apple Store, and I am just impatient.

So far, very happy...

I like the classic far more than I thought I would. I wish they'd release it in more colors.

Sorry if I missed it but did you ever make a final decision on returning the modern or "acquiring" your son's classic?

I've actually not tried on the classic before and might do that when I'm in HK next week, same with the link. I was surprised by how much I liked the leather loop considering it wasn't on my radar at all when they first showed all the bands (Milanese and Link were tops for me then, until I saw the pricing...)

I returned the modern last week and got myself a classic. My son is too much of a collector to give up his band, even though he wears the sport all the time. :)

I wish they made the leather loop for the 38mm. I'd buy a blue one immediately.

Ah, haha. I can relate to your son a bit in that regard.

Considering the pricing structure, the classic always felt a little odd to me. It's the exact same price as the ML and LL, which put it in kind of weird territory; I can get a stainless steel mesh band that is infinitely adjustable or a leather loop which is much more adjustable than the classic for the same price. They also would, theoretically, last longer since there's less wear and tear without the buckle and clasp putting pressure on the band at a particular point.

I guess it's a "don't knock it 'til you try it" thing, which is why I think I'll at least try it on when I'm in one of their stores next week, but it always seemed a bit like the odd one out. At least the modern buckle has a cool nice clasp! :p

The clasp on the modern is a bit odd, but it's rather neat from an engineering perspective.

I sort of feel like the leather band needs to be thicker to support the weight of the watch and the buckle and still look substantial. It feels kind of flimsy, even though it isn't at all.

I think I would've loved the modern buckle if the band was a wee bit thicker and the buckle itself was a wee bit smaller.

My logic regarding the classic was the same as yours. I even bought the milanese originally. My daughter has my milanese band now. I didn't enjoy wearing one regularly. My favorite band is still the sport.

Go figure.

I never would've figured that the band was that thin before reading this thread, as I never had any hands-on time with it before. I kind of like the large buckle from an aesthetics POV, but I can understand how it may not work as well on the functional end.

I actually bought a bright blue LL at the same time as my watch, then returned it the next day for the ML which I really enjoyed. My issue is that I don't like to wear my watches tight since it feels like I'm getting my wrist squeezed and that probably doesn't work so well with a band like the ML. It took probably around 5 days or so but then I started getting irritation on my arm, probably from the movement of the ML on my arm, whether it be movement on its own or me adjusting it slightly higher or lower on my arm.

Due to that, I am likely now going to go return the ML and re-purchase the blue LL when I head back to HK in two days. I also want to try on the LB but I'm worried about that... in the fact that I might really like it and want to buy it. By no means will it break the bank, but that's an AWFUL lot of money to spend on a single band...

That's why I didn't like the ML. You really do have to wear it rather tight. I like the LB. My husband has it (anniversary gift from me).

You should probably not try it on. ;)

I still do think the ML looks really nice and should function quite well, especially in the humid climate that I am currently residing in. However, from a practical standpoint, it doesn't work with my use cases, so in that regard I think the LL will suit my needs much better. How often does your husband wear it, if you don't mind me asking?

I know! I know that if I try it on and I can find a perfect fit for it, that the pull to buy it will be great... perhaps too great. But at the same point in time, if I don't try it on, it will gnaw away at me... gah!!!!!:(

The modern buckle is still the band I prefer, although the sport band is comfortable too. I just like the look of the modern buckle and like that it is thin. My opinion is that the watch itself is bulky enough without adding a heavier band to it. I think it looks sleek with the modern buckle and for me it is easy to put on and comfortable to wear. I'm going to get a black one as soon as it becomes available.

That was my experience, as well. It looks plain on the website, and I ordered it solely because it got me into the 4/24 window. Once I got it, I really liked it. Actually, I tried it on in the store on 4/11 and was happy with my pre-order. I've since ordered the Milanese Loop and Link bands, which I also like. All 3 are in my rotation, though I'd say I use the Classic most often.

I also find that I'm using my classic buckle more than my Milanese loop or white and pink sports bands. I've been on vacation and I've worn my classic buckle 5/7 days and my sports band for 1.5 days and my Milanese loop only half a day so far. It's very hot where I am (Egypt) and I found that the Milanese loop gets very sweaty. Surprisingly the classic buckle does not.

I found the ML got warmer than all my other bands, too. Go figure. You'd think it would be more breathable.

So... I tried it on while I was in HK. Originally from the website, my girlfriend really liked the look of the Blue Leather Loop and my intent was to return the ML and exchange it for the BLL. However, after trying it on, my girlfriend didn't think the LL looked as good in person and that it might not work as well for me day to day in my suit.

I then tried on the Link Bracelet and after adjusting it to a point where it fit well, that's when the pain came on! I really enjoyed the look and feel of it and between the two, my girlfriend said the LB looked MUCH better and said I should get it over the LL. For a moment I contemplated getting the LL and the LB so I'd have 3 bands to switch between, but she said I shouldn't waste money (haha!) and just get the LB as it would go well with my suit for work and would even be fine during casual (at the time, I was in a t-shirt and shorts) days.

Today is my first day back to work and I gotta say that, despite the hit to my wallet, the watch really does look THAT much classier with the LB. While I still feel that it's a bit too expensive just for a band, I really love the look and am happy that I did buy it in the end.

I've gotta admit, I've been desiring that link bracelet for a few weeks now.

Started off with a SGS watch that I preordered on April 10. Decided after a week that I actually did care about the "dressiness" of the watch and didn't like the space grey as much as I expected, so I returned it and upgraded to a SS with Black Leather Loop. Love this combo and it feels great. Then I picked up a Black Sport Band to have an option for "rough use" (and also the sport band is quite comfortable to wear on the weekends).

I should be happy with two bands, but oh does the SS look sharp with the link bracelet on it. My wife just picked up a Milanese for her silver sport watch and so she's over there with her shiny strap and I've got a black leather one.

Now, I'm not actually going to buy another strap now, but one way or another I will have a link bracelet within the next year. Might just wear out the LL first, then I'll have a reason :)

I actually had a SGS as well at the start, but it was a 38mm and though the size was mostly fine, I felt more restricted in band options (no LL) than if I went with the larger size. Other than that, I actually really did like the look of it; the darker colour gave it a real "stealth" look that resonated with me.

I actually wanted to go with 3 bands for a while, all with their own use cases. The Link would be for work, the Black Sport Band for working out and the Leather Loop for weekends and after working out (during the time when I would remove the SB to rinse it off after sweating profusely and leave it to dry, but wouldn't necessarily want to put the Link back on yet.) I really like how easy it is to put on and adjust the LL though.

The Link was expensive and my girlfriend was saying that I should treat it as a birthday present for myself. Maybe I can use that same logic and get the Loop for myself as a Christmas present later this year...
