Mac running OS10.5 died yesterday (thursday about 10am) Ran Time Machine reinstall it reached 11% by 2pm but did not make any further progress for the next 3 hours whilst the time remaining to completion just kept increasing. Went home and when I returned the next day it had only reached 14.6%. Contacted IT but they weren't very helpful. This is a work computer with about 6 years of really important data.
By the end of today (Friday 10:30pm) it said it had 164 hours remaining!!! Do I stop it? Or will that risk corrupting the external HD.
